Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock

NYSPFP, in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and IPRO, aims to help hospitals improve severe sepsis and septic shock care processes and outcomes by supporting front line staff adherence to their severe sepsis and septic shock protocols.
Building on hospitals' existing severe sepsis and septic shock improvement efforts, this initiative will focus on providing education, tools, and one-on-one assistance to address particularly challenging areas, including optimizing early identification; improving adherence to the three and six hour sepsis bundles; and improving communications and care hand-offs and transfers. NYSPFP will tailor its assistance based on hospitals' needs, and will provide educational programming that features experts in the field as well as examples of successful implementation strategies.
