Central Line-associated Blood Stream Infections
The CLABSI Initiative is designed to assist hospitals to implement standardized processes for the identification and adoption of best practices to prevent CLABSIs.
The goal of the CLABSI is:
- To eliminate preventable central line–associated bloodstream infections
NYSPFP approach to CLABSI:
With guidance from the NYSPFP Infection Prevention Workgroup, the CLABSI Initiative will follow the collaborative methodology to rapidly advance improvements in central line insertion and maintenance. Hospitals will assess existing central line insertion and maintenance practices, and then implement the evidence-based CLABSI bundles. Hospital participants will also have the opportunity to learn from peers, sharing best practices and lessons learned through learning sessions and ongoing conference calls and webinars.
