One-Day TeamSTEPPS Fundamentals Training

Tuesday, March 5, 2013
9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
GNYHA Conference Center, 555 West 57th Street, New York City
This one-day training, provided by expert faculty from the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, will focus on the fundamental principles of TeamSTEPPS, an evidence-based approach to improving communication and teamwork skills. This session will also present strategies for staff to consider as they integrate these skills into daily routines. This training is designed for staff not previously trained in the TeamSTEPPS methodology.

What is TeamSTEPPS?
TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork system designed for health care professionals, scientifically rooted in more than 20 years of research and lessons from the application of teamwork principles. The Federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) supported the initial development and the ongoing improvement in TeamSTEPPS in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Defense. It includes:

• A powerful solution to improving patient safety within your organization;
• An evidence-based teamwork system to improve communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals; and
• Ready-to-use materials and a training curriculum to successfully integrate teamwork principles into all areas of your health care system.

Your staff can get extensive information on TeamSTEPPS on the AHRQ Web site. There is also a brief 12-question AHRQ readiness assessment that can help further your internal preparation and discussions.
