Ventilator-Associated Events Webconference

This Webconference will focus on the forthcoming changes in ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) definitions, surveillance, and reporting. Dr. Shelley Magill and Cindy Gross from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will describe the new algorithm for detecting ventilator-associated conditions and complications, known as ventilator-associated events (VAE), and review the VAE protocol, definition, criteria, and rate calculation methodology.

How to join the Webconference

2. Enter your name and e-mail
3. Enter the case-sensitive password: Events123
4. Click the “Join Now” button
5. Fill in any additional information requested
6. Click the “Submit” button at the bottom right-hand side of your screen

After loading, a pop-up box will appear with the following dial-in instructions:

• The Meeting ID number: 645 494 879
• Your unique Attendee ID number: ____ (Assigned when you log into the Webconference) You will need to key this number into the telephone to ensure your computer and telephone are linked.

Who Should Attend

NYSPFP encourages all NYSPFP hospital liaisons, VAP initiative team leaders, and data leads to participate. As this is an opportunity to hear directly from the CDC on the changes to VAP/VAE surveillance and reporting, NYSPFP encourages the participation of all appropriate team members, including intensive care physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, microbiologists, and others.
