NYSPFP Pressure Injury Webinar: Best Practices for Prevention and Documentation

Tuesday, September 10, 2019
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
NYSPFP will host a September 10 webinar on pressure injuries (PI), the second in a three-part series in response to the increasing incidence of PI across NYSPFP hospitals. Reducing PI rates is a complex undertaking that ranges from implementing clinical guidelines to properly documenting and coding wounds. This webinar will discuss the following topics:

• Best practices for preventing and mitigating PI progression
• Clinical documentation improvement to ensure reliable, consistent staging of PI
• Improving sustainability of PI prevention efforts and financial stewardship
• Bridging the gap between clinical staff and coding staff to reduce PI rates

Expert faculty for the webinar are members of the Board of Directors for the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel:
William V. Padula, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical and Health Economics in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California. He has performed innovative comparative research and analysis of quality improvement strategies to prevent hospital-acquired PIs.
Barbara Delmore, PhD, RN, CWCN, MAPWCA, IIWCC-NYU, is Senior Nurse Scientist, Center for Innovation in the Advancement of Care (CIAC) and Clinical Assistant Professor, Hansjӧrg Wyss, Department of Plastic Surgery at NYU Langone Health. She is a board-certified wound care nurse whose research focuses on chronic wounds, risk factors that can influence wound prevention strategies and therapeutic interventions, and risk factors for heel PIs and acute skin failure in hospitalized patients.
