NYSPFP SSI Webinar: Introducing the Improving Surgical Care and Recovery Collaborative

Thursday, May 16, 2019
3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
Please join NYSPFP for a May 16 webinar to promote the Improving Surgical Care and Recovery (ISCR) Collaborative. ISCR is a joint initiative of the American College of Surgeons and Johns Hopkins Medicine Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality that is funded and guided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The ISCR Collaborative is a free program that helps hospitals implement evidence-based perioperative pathways to improve clinical outcomes, reduce hospital length of stay, and improve the patient experience. ISCR has specific programming for surgical quality improvement in the following service lines: colorectal, orthopedic (hip fracture and total joint replacement), and gynecology.

NYSPFP encourages all hospitals to join this introductory webinar to learn more about the ISCR program and how to join the Collaborative, which is enrolling hospitals for its September 2019 cohort. New York has one of the highest hysterectomy surgical site infection (SSI) rates in the country, and some hospitals still struggle with colon and hip SSI rates. This program can be particularly beneficial for surgical specialty groups––like gynecology and orthopedic surgery specialists. For more information on ISCR, please refer to the ISCR fact sheet. To enroll in the ISCR Collaborative, please visit the ISCR portal.
