NYSPFP CAUTI and C. Difficile Webinar: Aligning Lab Protocols and Clinician Diagnostics

Tuesday, October 17, 2017
1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
On October 17, NYSPFP will host a webinar on Aligning Lab Protocols and Clinician Diagnostics for CAUTI and C. difficile infection (CDI). Using appropriate screening and testing strategies, hospitals can reduce false positives, prevent unnecessary treatment of patients, and improve CAUTI and CDI rates. Additional issues to be addressed during the webinar include:
• The impact of overtesting on both CAUTI and CDI rates
• Hospital protocols to standardize screening and culturing for CAUTI and CDI
• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria for identifying CAUTI and CDI

Speakers

Representatives from the Hospital for Special Surgery and St. Peters Hospital, both of which successfully implemented rationalized testing strategies, will share how these factors impacted their CAUTI and CDI rates. They also will discuss progress and outcomes with testing protocols, and strategies and tools that helped hard-wire changes at their institutions.
