NYSPFP Healthcare Disparities Webinar: Building An Organizational Response

Wednesday, October 11, 2017
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
On October 11, NYSPFP will host a webinar on strategies for improving Race, Ethnicity, and Language (REaL) data collection, including measure improvement, to help address potential disparities in patient care delivery.

The webinar will feature national experts who will provide guidance on best practices, including how to:
• Develop a staff training program that increases awareness of REaL data collection processes, including strategies for increasing data accuracy and addressing barriers;
• Utilize health disparities data to move from awareness to action; and
• Evaluate the effectiveness of a REaL data collection program.

Expert guidance regarding leadership buy-in, staff engagement, and the importance of building an organizational response to disparities also will be provided.

Additionally, NYSPFP staff will share the results of the Healthcare Disparities Survey—completed by NYSPFP hospitals earlier this year—which provides insight into respondents’ current practices for collecting demographic data, using existing data, and training staff who collect data. NYSPFP staff will highlight available tools and resources that support hospitals’ efforts to address disparities by improving REaL data collection practices and processes.

• David Engler, PhD, Senior Vice President of Leadership and Innovation, America’s Essential Hospitals and Director, Essential Hospitals Institute
• Brian Roberson, Senior Research Analyst, America’s Essential Hospitals
