NYSPFP Webinar: Implementing Mechanical Bowel Preparation with Oral Antibiotics to Reduce SSI

On June 15, NYSPFP will host a webinar on reducing colorectal surgical site infections (SSI) via the use of mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) coupled with oral antibiotics.

The webinar’s featured speaker, Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Cima, will present on the following:
• Review the literature supporting the use of MBP and oral antibiotics
• Share how the Mayo team used MBP with oral antibiotics, including surgeons’ considerations for selecting an MBP preparation
• Share the subsequent impact on SSI rates following successful implementation of a colon bundle, which includes the MBP with oral antibiotics

Who Should Attend

NYSPFP encourages colorectal or general surgeons, anesthesiologists, operating room nurses, and infection preventionists to attend the webinar. Other physician and nurse surgical subspecialists and quality improvement/patient safety staff involved in reducing SSI rates are also encouraged to attend.
