NYSPFP Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock: Kickoff Webinar and Introduction of the Value Concept in Sepsis Care

Wednesday, January 11, 2017
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
NYSPFP will host a statewide webinar focused on sepsis process improvement efforts. The webinar serves as a starting point in a series of web-based education and in-person conferences covering strategies to achieve reliable adherence to the 3- and 6-hour bundles and reduction in sepsis morbidity and mortality, including:

• enhancing early identification and intervention;
• integrating the concept of value into sepsis care protocols;
• applying robust process improvement techniques to sepsis care delivery; and
• improving antibiotic administration and prescribing in concert with antibiotic stewardship.

The kickoff webinar will feature James O’Brien, MD, MSc, System VP of Quality and Patient Safety at OhioHealth , who will share his experience with integrating the concept of value into sepsis process improvement to save lives, improve outcomes, and reduce costs. Dr. O’Brien is the Chair of the Board of Directors and medical advisor to Sepsis Alliance – a not-for-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of sepsis by educating patients, families and healthcare professionals to treat sepsis as a medical emergency.

NYSPFP Project Managers will support hospitals directly to assist with action plans to address gaps in care, promote 3- and 6-hour sepsis bundle adherence, and improve outcomes through education and performance improvement assistance.
