NYSPFP VAE/Delirium Prevention: Review of the ABCDEF Bundle: Aligning VAE and Delirium Prevention

Tuesday, January 17, 2017
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2017, NYSPFP will host the kick-off webconference in the HIIN ventilator associated event (VAE)/ delirium prevention educational programming.

The programming will focus on prevention practices to reduce VAE and harm from delirium advocated in the “Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Pain, Agitation and Delirium (PAD) in Adult Patients in the Intensive Care Unit” recently published in Critical Care Medicine. These practices have been bundled together as the ABCDEF Bundle to enhance care of the critically ill patient.

The webinar will feature national expert Dr. Wesley E. Ely, M.D., M.P.H, Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee and founder of the Vanderbilt ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group. On this webinar, Dr. Ely will share how they implemented the ABCDEF bundle at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and review the history and development of the ABCDEF bundle.

NYSPFP will also provide an overview of programming developed to support hospitals in reducing VAE and delirium, including tools and resources available to facilitate data collection.
