Rescheduled SSI/OR Safety Educational Webconference: Glucose Management in the Surgical Patient

Please join NYSPFP on Thursday, September 22 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. for a webinar focused on how to implement a glucose control protocol in both diabetic and non-diabetic surgical patients to prevent hyperglycemia in the perioperative period.

The webinar will feature Lucia Austin-Gil, RN, JD, CPHQ, CPHRM, Senior Director for Patient Safety at Washington State Hospital Association, who will review efforts to implement glucose control protocols in hospitals across Washington State and the impact on the surgical site infection rates as a result of the implementation of those protocols. Hospitals that have successfully implemented a glucose control protocol will also share their experiences.

Who Should Attend

Hospital SSI/OR Patient Safety Hub surgical champions are encouraged to participate in this webinar. This includes, minimally, a colorectal or general surgeon, anesthesiologist, and/or nurse. Other physician and nurse surgical subspecialists, quality improvement/patient safety staff, and infection preventionists are also encouraged to attend.
