VAE/Delirium Prevention: Operationalizing Assessments for Agitation and Delirium

On March 8, NYSPFP will host a webinar for critical care professionals on the prevention of ventilator-associated events (VAE) and delirium. The webinar will feature national expert Dr. Wesley E. Ely, M.P.H, Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, and Founder of the Vanderbilt ICU Delirium and Cognitive Impairment Study Group. During the webinar, Dr. Ely will review how to operationalize agitation and delirium assessments, including the Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale (RASS), Sedation Agitation Scale (SAS), Intensive Care Delirium Screening Checklist (ICDSC) and Confusion Assessment Method for the ICU (CAM-ICU). Additionally, Dr. Ely will discuss choice of drugs and ideal RASS/SAS scores. NYSPFP staff will also introduce its new VAE/Delirium Prevention Action Planning tool.
