Interconnected Care Delivery: Preventing Delirium in Ventilated Patients Reduces VAE

On May 22, NYSPFP will host an educational webinar featuring E. Wesley Ely, M.D., M.P.H., focused on the link between ventilator associated events (VAE) and delirium in ventilated patients. Dr. Ely is a national expert on improving care and outcomes of critically ill patients, having conducted extensive research focused on the problems facing older patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). During this webinar, Dr. Ely will review how to prevent, assess and treat delirium in the ventilated patient to reduce VAE delirium which is associated with increased morbidity and mortality.

Who Should Attend

NYSPFP encourages your ventilator care interdisciplinary teams and front-line clinical staff to join this webinar. This includes, at a minimum, your VAE clinical and data leads, in addition to any other key staff members (e.g., champion intensivists and/or pulmonologists, nurse leaders, respiratory therapists, quality staff, and infection preventionists) that are involved in the implementation of the VAE initiative.
