This one-day training session, led by expert faculty from the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, will focus on the fundamental principles of TeamSTEPPS as applied in the obstetrical setting. TeamSTEPPS is an evidence-based approach to improving communication and teamwork skills. During the training session, attendees will learn about strategies to consider as they integrate these skills into daily routines.

What is TeamSTEPPS?
TeamSTEPPS is a teamwork system designed for health care professionals, scientifically rooted in more than 20 years of research and lessons from the application of teamwork principles. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) supported the initial development and the ongoing improvement in TeamSTEPPS in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Defense. It includes:

• A powerful solution to improving patient safety within your organization;
• An evidence-based teamwork system to improve communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals; and
• Ready-to-use materials and a training curriculum to successfully integrate teamwork principles into all areas of your health care system.

Who Should Attend

NYSPFP encourages multidisciplinary staff including obstetricians, midwives, nurses and other key pbstetrical staff to attend the training as a team.
