CAUTI Prevention Webconference

Tuesday, June 18, 2013
1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.
This Webconference will continue to focus on the rapid improvement plan for reducing catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) that NYSPFP launched in April 2013. Hospitals will report on their efforts to optimize catheter utilization in the emergency department (ED) as well as efforts they have begun to explore to reduce catheter utilization in other areas of the hospital. NYSPFP will unveil the next phase of the rapid improvement plan focused on implementing “hard and soft stops” for catheter discontinuation with a particular emphasis on triggering urinary catheter discontinuation at certain high risk transitions, such as transfers out of the operating room (OR) or critical care.
