SSI/OR Safety Educational Webconference: The Role of the Surgical Team in Reducing Harm for Surgical Patients

This webconference will focus on the hospital acquired conditions (HACs) commonly affecting surgical patients and the role of surgical team members in preventing HACs in the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative setting. Daniel J. Sexton, MD, Professor of Medicine in Infectious Diseases at Duke University Medical Center, will introduce the program, and speak to the impact that comprehensive integrated care processes can have on both reducing surgical site infection rates and enhancing surgical care. Paula Graling, DNP, RN, CNS, CNOR, Clinical Nurse Specialist of Perioperative Services at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia and President of the Association of peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN), will discuss best practices in the peri-operative setting to accelerate improvement and reduce harm from multiple HACs affecting surgical patients.

Who Should Attend

NYSPFP encourages your hospital’s SSI/OR Safety Surgical Champions (including at a minimum, surgeon, anesthetist, OR nurse) to participate. Quality improvement and patient safety staff and infection preventionists are also encouraged to participate.
